GRACE Friendship Ministry: "Through God’s GRACE, our children have hope for a lifetime of love and acceptance."
God
Rejoices for
Adults and
Children with
Exceptional Needs

The GRACE Friendship Ministry is designed to support and enhance the spiritual needs of our children and young adults with disabilities, or our "GRACE Friends."
The mission of this ministry is to share God’s love with children and young adults who have disabilities, and to enable them to become an active part of God’s family.

One of the most rewarding outcomes of this ministry is the gratifying relationship that will develop between the “GRACE Givers” and the “GRACE Friends."

An additional benefit for the families of these children/young adults is that they will have the opportunity to worship in church and participate in Sunday school while their special needs child participates in a worship/learning atmosphere designed specifically for them.

A Typical GRACE Schedule

We offer a flexible program, but have a basic program template and monthly theme (ex. Jesus Loves ME!) that is followed each week. Typical Sunday schedules will include the following activities:
- Open Exploration (puzzles, cars, balls, games, & books)
- Devotional Time
- Circle Time
- Bible Lesson
- Arts & Crafts
- Gross Motor Activities (Ring Around the Rosie, outside play, Follow the Leader)
- Snack Time
- Singing with Musical Instruments

Be a "GRACE Giver"

We currently have a full time teacher working each Sunday morning in the GRACE room with an extensive background in working with children. We are in need of assistant “GRACE Givers” to help the teacher and the children on a volunteer basis at the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Christian Formation hour.

Volunteers may be responsible for assisting the children with activities in the classroom, playground, and with trips to the restroom. Our “GRACE Friends” require continuous supervision and direction. Small group or one-to-one interaction is encouraged. “GRACE Givers” will be coached/supported by the teacher during their time in the classroom. These volunteers must also have completed the Safeguarding God’s Children training. Contact the church office for more information on helping with Grace Friendship Ministry.
