| Childrens' Liturgy |
 |
At St. Dunstan's, we strive to help our children to understand our lessons and prayers, as well as to learn the meaning woven into all aspects of our church service. A large congregational service geared towards adults can be overwhelming to smaller children.
We offer a Childrens' Liturgy during the 9 am service for children ages 3 through Kindergarten in the Bentley Education Center. Children begin with the Liturgy of the Word with their parents in the church sanctuary.
Then, all interested children, exit to their Childrens' Liturgy worship areas for the remaining Liturgy of the Word with lessons, prayers, and a sermon offered at a Children's level of understanding. The children rejoin their families midway through the service as the congregation exchanges The Peace.
Liturgy teachers are given thorough training, along with a notebook containing all the year's liturgy lesson plans with suggestions for activities. All of our liturgy teachers have background checks and have taken the required Safeguarding God's Children course through our church's diocese.

| A Prayer for Childrens' Liturgy |
O Lord Jesus Christ, who as a child worshipped in the temple:
We bring to you all children of this parish,
especially those who worship during Childrens' Liturgy,
that they may love you above all things. Grant wisdom,
faithfulness, patience and creativity to all of the Childrens'
Liturgists, that our liturgy may be Holy unto you, and that
these children may grow up to the praise of your holy name.
AMEN. |
