| Day 6 (Thursday March 15, 2007) |
Today our activity began earlier than other days. We awoke, ate breakfast

and had worshiped by 8:30 AM when we loaded into taxis for our ride to the
Cuernavaca bus station where we caught our bus for a two hour ride to
Taxco. We all were amazed at the beautiful scenery that we experienced
along this route. Taxco is a wonderful bustling city located in the
mountains. One of the major industries is silver mining. It is a city
rich with culture, history and quaint shops.
Fr. Federico, one of our dearest Mexican friends, met us at the Taxco bus
station. Fr. Federico had planned well for our arrival, as this is the
city where he lives and works. The good father had recruited one of his
parishioners, Marco into using his van to transport some of us to various
places in the city. Marco and his wife, Mari Cruz are the owners of two
shops. One of them is a jewelry store. Mari graciously offered each of us
a 40% discount on merchandise in her shop. We made a GENEROUS donation to
her shop prior to our departure as she had some beautiful merchandise.
Once again, Fr. Federico had a plan for us. We visited his immaculate
church where he reminded us that this was our church also. The good

father lives in very modest quarters at the back of the church. It was now
time for lunch and Fr. Fernando, being the ultimate host, suggested a
wonderful restaurant, where the view of the city and mountains was
breathtaking. Our God is an awesome God!
Each of us shared a great afternoon and early evening shopping, taking in
the culture and visiting with each other and citizens of this community.
At the end of each day Fr. Ralph challenges us to answer the following
question, "Where did you see God today?"
Nunzi and I asked each member of our mission team to respond to this
question as we rode our bus from Taxco to Cuernavaca this evening. The
following are the responses of our team.
Betty: "I saw God through Mario's generosity. He was willing to spend a
major part of his day with us as well as transport people he had not met
until today."
Shawn: "I see God's presence now on this bus as I observe the bus driver
listening to a Christian CD we also listened to at our church work site two
days ago."
Dave: "Today I saw God in the eyes of Mario and Mari's 20 month old baby."
Bob: "As I look at this breathtaking sunset, I see God."
Jerre: "I see God's presence working in each of us on this trip. In the
friendships that we are forming, and the experiences we are sharing together."

Nunzi: "I saw God as the retailers were so patient with me as I struggled
to use their language."
Teri: "I loved seeing God as we visited with Mari and Mario Cruz and
their precious baby, Emilio."
Ralph: "I saw God in the faces of the children in the streets who had
nothing. I also saw God in the young man who was selling hats on the
street. In our negotiations we ended up trading hats. He is now the owner
of my Astros cap and I, an authentic straw one."
Marilynn: "I saw God through Fernando and Mario as they hosted us in their
city, and love doing this."
Carl: "I saw God in the eyes of the little girls selling jewelry and gum in
the square. Every time I see this I see God."
Ron: "I saw God today when a teacher brought her students into the church.
Upon entering, she immediately knelt down in prayer, and each of her students followed her example."
Linda: "I saw God in Fernando's love for his church and the people in it."
Rick: "I enjoyed watching the children in the square as they recessed from
the church and made their way around the square singing and holding candles in worship."
Barbara: "I saw God in the beauty of the sunset upon the mountains."
Even though we are miles apart from you, our family and friends, we too hope that you will
join us in answering the question, "Where did you see God today?"
We miss each of you and are so appreciative of your support and the prayers
that are being offered in confirmation of this trip, the work that we are
doing, and the lives that are being touched. We are so richly blessed by
being able to have Ralph and Bob on this trip with us. Muchas gracias, Fr.
Rob!
Good night!
